I recently just learned the technique of ‘solarisation’ in the dark room. I have absolutely fallen in love with it and I am going to do soooo many more experiments! I just can’t get enough of it.

These photos are literally my first attempts and I’m pretty proud of myself to be honest! I think I will use the technique for my final images in my current photography project. It’s based on schizophrenia and I think this technique will give them an eery and interesting effect.

I’ve been looking into Cindy Sherman a lot lately: Her work is really inspiring to me right now as I’m in the middle of a photography project. My project is based on schizophrenia and I’m currently in the process of shooting self portraits dressed as different peoples/cultures etc. I’ve been doing 50’s house wives, native americans and russian dolls. I will be shooting more in the near future.

Stella Vine is literally amazing. I love how controversial and simple her work is. This is a painting I did of Marilyn Monroe in the style of Stella Vine. I made her eyes bigger and made it more cartoon-like. I also added a strange quote on the side like Stella Vine has done with some of her works; paintings of Kate Moss for example.

Ink and bleach study of a russian doll sort of thing. I think I painted this from Russian Vogue?

Modelling I’ve done for Robynne Pickles. Check out her tumblr, she’s a very interesting and opinionated person. Such raw ideas, I love it.

Btw,

Sorry about everything being uploaded in one day, I won’t usually do this. I just don’t want an empty tumblr.

The last few weeks of college…

Being at Lewes College for 3 years definitely does psychological damage. (I’m kidding, I’ve just never been so bored of a place)

I finish college in about 5 weeks. I can’t wait to finish and finally have so much more spare time to be experimenting with art in the ways I actually want to instead of doing a project that has been changed so much by the course leader that it would be a lie to say it was my own project anymore…

I’m currently doing a project on African traditional fashion/textiles. I am in the process of designing and making an African traditional style dress with a modern twist at the moment; I have material actually from Africa that I bought when I was over there and I will be using that for the main part of my dress. I have also been screen printing onto material Buffalo heads to add onto my dress somewhere (possibly a belt?) - In Africa, they wear animals on their clothing to represent certain things - to keep away animals from their camp, or to give them courage etc. (the Buffalo represents strength).

I won’t blab on about it much more, I will upload some designs and photos soon.

Modelling for the amazing Jack Codling. His photography is insane.
